After a fierce competition, fantastic recycling and innovative poster entries created by our nominated schools, we’ve found the winner of the first Fonterra Milk for Schools National Recycling Award – Rangitaiki School in the Bay of Plenty.

Each school term, Anchor milkmen – who deliver the Fonterra Milk for Schools milk to schools and pick up their recycling – nominate the best school in their region for their commitment to the Fonterra Milk for Schools recycling programme.

In November, all the schools nominated by their milkmen during 2013 were then asked to participate in the Recycling Awards Poster Competition. Their task? To create a poster about why it’s important to recycle Fonterra Milk for Schools milk packs, with the theme “Drink it Dry, Fold it Flat, Send it Back!”

Out of a total of 1,300 schools in the programme, Rangitaiki School – with their roll of just 14 – were the clear winner with their amazing poster, made by Sapphire, Troy and Delta Day.

We had some other great entries that deserve special mention as well:

Silver Winner:
Donovan Primary

Bronze Winner:
Rai Valley Area School

Highly Commended:
Kuratau School, Belfast School, Waipara School
